Sermon – 30 July 2017 – Nothing Can Separate Us!
After an emotionally and physically exhausting week, we arrived back home on Saturday night at 11 pm. Sadly, wifi was not an option at the Memphis Airport and so I wasn’t able to blog. I had been chewing on today’s sermon all week as we cared for Denise’s parents, visited the Civil War Shiloh Battlefield, and the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis at the Lorraine Motel where the Rev Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. In addition, I was reading the book, “Mission” about Jimmy Stewart’s days as a US Army Air Forces bomber pilot and commander in England. Couple all of this with our current political situation where people are not the priority, rather politics and careerism are, and you have the conundrum stirring within your Padre’s heart.
So, here is the sermon that resulted:
First Scripture Reading – Romans 8:26-39
Second Scripture Reading – Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52
