Evening Prayer – 29 May 2017
The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow
As the day came to a close
As we relaxed in the comfort of our home
My thoughts turned to all of the casualties of war
The military members who have died
The families of those who have died
The people caught in the middle of the war zone
Those on all sides of these conflicts
Those who bear the deep scars of war
And once more, Isaiah speaks to me
Dream, gentle Padre, of the day
When swords are beaten into plowshares
When spears are beaten into pruning hooks
When nations no longer lift up swords against each other
When we study war no more
Not only dream that dream
Seek to bring it to fruition as you follow
As you follow the Prince of Peace
The one who said love all of your neighbors
And so, once more, we lift our Evening Prayer
Dona Nobis Pacem et in Terra
Grant Us Peace on Earth
A wee prayer from the heart of your Padre…
