Heartbroken…

This started as a FaceBook post… Now it is here… I still have no idea where the sermon is going… I have no idea where the country that I served for 26 years is headed… The vitriol… Hate… Fear… Gun lust… Mysogyny… Racism… Sexism… Homophobia…

Too many places and names… Too many dead…

Sunday’s Gospel reading is the Good Samaritan… Who is my neighbor? Preaching at the 8 am morning prayer service… A guest preacher at 10… What do I have? Only a broken heart… So many… Police lives… Black lives… LGBTQ lives… Arabic and Muslim lives… Too… Many… Lives…

When in the hell are we going to wake up and see EVERY PERSON as our Neighbor?! When in the hell are we going to wake up and realize that God is weeping over this creation and our vile hatred and fear… When in the hell are we going to wake up…
Lord, help us… Protect us from ourselves!
