“A moral movement draws power not from its ability to overwhelm but from its willingness to suffer. The Second Reconstruction brought large-scale nonviolent direct action to America through the Montgomery Bus Boycott. A Third Reconstruction depends upon escalating non-cooperation in order to demonstrate our capacity to sacrifice for a better future.”— Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II, The Third Reconstruction: How a Moral Movement is Overcoming the Politics of Division and Fear

  1. Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II is a gem. I’ve heard him speak at the Festival of Homiletics and at a “Together We Rise” event related to Palestine. His powerful words remind me of Martin Luther King Jr.
