Evening Prayer – 9 November 2018

The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow
A long day of travel is complete
Back home in Colorado after vacation
A week of sunshine, water, and friendship
A time to rest and relax
Tomorrow begins Armistice/Veterans Day commemorations
Tonight is the 80th Anniversary of Kristallnacht
The horror of humankind’s inhumanity towards humankind
Tomorrow we lay to rest a dear parishioner
Sunday is the Centennial of the Armistice
So much conflicting emotion in a world that today has gone mad
What keeps coming to mind is this prayer
Most Holy God, hear our prayers for all who strive for peace, and all who yearn for justice. Help us, who today remember the cost of war, to work for a better tomorrow; and, as we commend to you lives lost in terror and conflict, bring us all, in the end, to the peace of your presence.
Lord God, we pledge ourselves to serve you and all humanity, in the cause of peace, for the relief of want and suffering. Guide us by your Spirit; give us wisdom; give us courage; give us hope; and keep us faithful now and always.
Lord in your mercy, hear my humble and heartfelt prayer
Dona Nobis Pacem et in Terra
Grant Us Peace on Earth
A wee prayer from the heart of your Padre…
