Today we made a pilgrimage

Michael Donald was almost a year younger than me

He was going to school to make a life for himself

He was a target of racist hatred

He was beaten to death and hung from a tree

However, while the body can be killed, the soul lives on

Today we would be colleagues and friends

And so today, we pick up the banner in your name

Today, we speak out against hatred

Today, we speak out against prejudice

Today, we speak out against the cowards in hoods and robes

Today, we speak to the vision of Micah and Amos

In your name, may we Do Justice, Love Kindness, Walk Humbly With God

In your name, may Justice roll down like water and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream
