Evening Prayer – 21 December 2017
The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow
The shortest day of the year
The longest night has begun
The Winter Solstice is upon us
In addition, a time to pray, reflect, remember
Our Blue Christmas service tonight was a blessing
Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted
Mourning the loss of a loved one
Mourning the loss of a career
Mourning the loss of independence
Surrounded by travelers on this road
We sang…
We Prayed…
We lit candles…
We held each other closely…
For me there were so many names to call forth
Parishioners, Co-Workers, Friends, Loved Ones…
Walking through the Valley of the Shadows with Mom
Walking with Denise and Dad and Alec
Tonight I was reminded that the Padre needs time
Time to mourn, time to recharge, time to simply be
So on this night I pray as I always do
Dona Nobis Pacem
Grant Us Peace
A wee prayer from the heart of your Padre…
