Evening Prayer – 12 August 2017

The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow 

A long day is behind us

Now is the time to rest and prepare for tomorrow

A wonderful celebration of the love between two precious people 

A time of prayer and joy and laughter and hope

Yet in the midst of it all I struggle, Lord

I struggle to respond to the hatred in this land

How racism, anti-semitism, blind hate, and ignorance lead to such horrors 

How can anyone justify the hatred of those bigots who gathered in Charlottesville 

How can anyone excuse their behavior

Lord, I don’t understand and so with a heavy heart I pray

Dona Nobis Pacem et in Terra

Grant Us Peace on Earth
