Evening Prayer – 9 August 2017
The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow
It seems appropriate today, Lord
To pray for sanity and peace
Not only do despotic world leaders bring cause for alarm
So too does the hatred and fear spewed by so many
Families and friends divided
In times like this I think of the Poverello
St Francis, you brought light to darkness
You brought hope to those in despair
You brought belonging to the rejected
You kissed lepers and embraced the poor
You shared love with those considered enemies
In this time of darkness, let us pray your prayer
In this time of darkness, let us live your prayer
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
AMEN
Lord, to you, we lift this humble prayer
Dona Nobis Pacem et in Terra
Grant Us Peace on Earth
A wee prayer from the heart of your Padre…
You know *this* is my heart. ❤ Joining you and my Beloved Poverello in prayer. ❤
