Evening Prayer – 12 December 2016

The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow 

A day of travel and appointments

As the sun set, we were at our “posts”

Ringing bells to support our community

The generosity of many was truly a blessing 

One man comes forward and places an offering in the kettle

He remembered a time when his own life was rough

He remembered a time when it was a struggle

With the spirit of the widow at the Temple

My unnamed brother offered what he had

May this gift bless as I was blessed

May an individual or family know they are not alone 

As fire lit the sky tonight I reflected

Reflected on God’s mystery

Reflected on God’s love

Reflected on chance encounters

Yes, Lord, I often give out of my excess

This brother gave what he had

He gave from his heart

May I give of myself in the same way

Lord, for all of us, I lift up this prayer

Dona Nobis Pacem et in Terra 

Grant Us Peace on Earth
