Evening Prayer – 28 July 2016

The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker 

To hear hope instead of hopelessness

To hear encouragement instead of darkness

To hear of selflessness instead of narcissistic individualism

To hear a call for unity instead of division

As I watched the eagle soar and fish

I thought about what God calls us to be

To be a people of hope

To be a people of promise

To be a people who look beyond ourselves 

To be a people who give a damn about the least of these

To be a people who truly care

For such a time as this, Lord

May we be your loving people

May we be your compassionate people

May we be your caring people

Lord, may we be instruments

Instruments of your peace

Instruments of your mercy 

Instruments of your love

Lord, in your mercy, hear this humble prayer 

Dona Nobis Pacem 

Grant Us Peace
