Evening Prayer – 13 June 2016

After VBS we literally drove into the clouds today

As I drove, I pondered the full day

Now, as I light the Vesper lights, I ponder the overwhelming pain

Coming from Orlando after the massacre of LGBTQ sisters, brothers, and allies at Pulse

Coming from Canada after the beheading of Robert Hall by fanatics in the Philippines.

Coming from Afghanistan in the wake of continued and horrific violence

Coming from so many parts of this world

Coming from hate-filled rhetoric spewing in America by so-called leaders

My heart is heavy, O Lord

The prayer of deep groans continues

Lord, in your mercy, hear my prayer

Dona Nobis Pacem

Grant Us Peace

A wee prayer from the weary heart of your Padre who longs for a world where #LoveWins in all places…
