Evening Prayer – 30 May 2016

The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker
A day of refreshment and relaxation
After a full weekend of ministry
Yet in the midst of it all, I remember
Memorial Day… Not about holidays or BBQ
A time to pause and remember
Those who died in the service of this nation
As I ponder the tragic loss of life
I say a silent prayer
My own heart believes the best way to honor the dead is to work so that the words of the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled — “they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” (Isaiah 4:2)
With this in mind, I lift my Evening Prayer
Dona Nobis Pacem
Grant Us Peace
A wee prayer from the heart of your Padre as he reflects, wonders, mourns, and prays…
Beautiful prayer my friend.
Thanks!
