Evening Prayer – 5 May 2016

I was startled by how enraged I got today. We had stopped on US Hwy 34 (Big Thompson Canyon) because some Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep were in the road. Some idiot in a pickup truck with Colorado plates got impatient and zoomed past me on the shoulder and literally forced the sheep off the road. Thankfully, my four-legged friends were not injured. But I know they were as shaken as Denise and I were. This prayer is for the driver and for our neighbors…
As I reflect on the flickering of the Vesper Lights
I think of my beautiful four-legged friends and neighbors
I think about a man who cared not for anyone other than himself
In this light, I lift up my Evening Prayer
Circle us, Lord
Keep patience within
Keep irrational behavior without
Keep your creation safe
From foolish and impatient people
Lord, help us to see all of your creation as sister, brother
Lord, keep my own temper in check
That I may focus on serving you
On serving and loving all your creatures
Lord, in your mercy, hear my prayer
Dona Nobis Pacem
Grant Us Peace
A wee prayer from the heart of your Padre…
