Evening Prayer – 18 January 2016
Tonight, O Lord, as the Vesper Lights are lit
My heart turns to those who live in fear
Fear of violence
Fear of racism which is surging in this country
Fear for the safety of our children
Fear for the future of this nation
It is easy to lose hope, O Lord
Yet the dream is still alive
A radical dream that cannot be pacified
A radical dream that cannot be whitewashed
A dream where ALL people are equal
A dream where Justice is not a slogan
A dream where Peace is a reality
A dream where Mercy is not an illusion
Lord, help us to keep the dream alive
Help us to walk humbly with you
Help us to spread love and not fear
Help us to be YOUR witnesses
Lord in your me mercy, hear our prayer
Dona Nobis Pacem
Grant Us Peace
A wee prayer from the reflective heart of your Padre on this Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday as he looks at this nation… Politics… And prays for our future…
