Evening Prayer – 20 July 2015

Reflecting a bit and an old bit of verse I wrote back in 1999 came to mind… I rediscovered the verses… the phrase that stuck out in my mind was “the past is the present”… And I think as well of Psalm 23… why this came to mind tonight, I don’t know… but I offer it up for any who may need it…

Here is the portion of the poem that came to mind:
In order to live fully,
the past must take its place.
Allow it its place,
of honor and love.
But move on and live,
the present and the future.
The past is the past,
the present is now.
A future awaits
the one who moves on.

Tonight we come to you, Lord
Thinking of those we love
Thinking of those who are stuck in the past
Thinking of those who feel hopeless in the present
Thinking of those who see no future filled with hope

Lord, help us to put the past behind us
Lord, help us to embrace the now
Lord, help us to find hope in present and the future
Lord, teach us to live

You said even though we walk through the valley of shadows
Even in those shadows, your presence is with us
Lord, you promise that when we are overwhelmed
You will provide comfort and peace

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer
Lord, in your love, walk with us
Dona Nobis Pacem
Grant Us Peace

A wee prayer from the Padre that bubbled up from somewhere deep within based on poems and prayers from years ago… Be blessed this night…
