It has been a long day, Lord
A time of reflection and raw emotions
Saying farewell yesterday to a dear friend
Walking once more through the Valley of the Shadows
Traveling today once more
We visited Denise’s Dad in rehab today
It was so good to be with him
As we walk with him through the difficulty of recovering from a major stroke
As we continue to walk with my Dad through rehab and his own struggles
This sweet puppy at the top of the blog continues to share love and joy with us
It is the end of a long day, Lord
And as my eyelids grow heavy
I lift this humble prayer to you

When you don’t know what to say
When you don’t know what to pray
When the darkness in the Valley of the Shadows overwhelms
It is then that the Spirit intercedes for us
Lord, speak in the silence of my heart
Speak for your servant is trying to listen
From Compline I lift this prayer
Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or weep this night, and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend the sick, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous; and all for your love’s sake. Amen.
