Peace – A Reflection

Today we spent time with a dear friend

We shared stories

We shared laughter

We shared our mutual awe in the midst of God’s Creation

We also spent time in discussion

Discussion about the state of the world

Discussion about our call as Christ-followers

Our call to be agents and instruments of God’s peace

As I reflected once more on the words of Thomas Merton

It all came together

These words from The New Seeds of Contemplation resonated deep with within my heart

We are not at peace with others because we are not at peace with ourselves, and we are not at peace with ourselves because we are not at peace with God.

May we indeed be at peace with ourselves, with God, and with one another
