Christmas Eve – A Reflection

It was a beautiful service tonight
The church was full and the Spirit was very present
As I sit on the deck contemplating this holy night
I look for the stars and Sister Moon
Sadly the clouds obscure the stars
Sister Moon is 1% illuminated
Yet even in the darkness of midwinter
Your Spirit O Lord is present
To you I lift this prayer from Advent and Christmas with Thomas Merton:
God of growth and love, may the little seed that you have planted in me bear much fruit. May the people I encounter come to know you by the words and actions of my love–a love that I first came to know by your words and actions. Prepare my soul for the coming of the Lord, and continue to have me serve you as an instrument of your love. I ask this through your son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
In conclusion I share these words that my mentor and dear friend, the late Rev. Dr. Robert A Morgan would close every late Christmas Eve Service with: And now it is Christmas ❤️🎄❤️🎄
