Christmas Adam – A Reflection

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve

Today is Christmas Adam in Denise’s family tradition

I know, a corny joke… Adam came before Eve!

Traditionally it was a time to gather with family and friends

Here in Colorado it has been a day of waiting

Family has flown in from all over

We gathered tonight for food, stories, and laughter

Tonight as I contemplate the day to come

I spent a wee bit of time with Merton

I want to share with you a prayer from the book, Advent and Christmas with Thomas Merton

Eternal Father, let the bells of Christmas signify gentleness as the answer to all violence, tenderness as the answer to the world’s harshness, light as the answer to the dark shadows of our misunderstandings, hope as the answer to the meaning of life. Amen. (p. 37)

May this be our prayer and our call to action as followers of the Prince of Peace.
