Evening Prayer – 21 October 2019

The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow

It was a long day, Lord

Yet your Spirit guided and encouraged

Ministry and meetings

You were fully in the mix

A late evening with my sweetie reading

Sharing with each other gems and jewels

I continue to be amazed by Fr Louis

By Thomas Merton as he was known to the public

His prophetic words ring so true today

Fifty-one years after his tragic death

His writings are incredibly relevant today

Yet in his words I find hope

In his words I find my calling

In his words I find companionship

In his words I find challenge

In his words I hear your call, Lord

May I not only pray for peace and justice

May I work for peace and justice too

Now as my eyelids grow heavy

I lift this humble prayer to you

Dona Nobis Pacem

Grant Us Peace
