Holy Wednesday – A Reflection

One of you will betray me
Lord, is it I?
Lord, is it I?
The question rang out around the table
Is it one who’s feet you just washed?
Lord, is it I?
Is it one who just broke bread with you?
Lord, is it I?
Lord, you knew how quickly the crowd would change
From shouts of Hosanna!
To shouts of Crucify Him!
Lord, is it I?
As I reflect on today’s passage from John’s Gospel, these thoughts keep flowing from my head and heart.
Lord, is it I?
Then I realize, yes it is
So many times I have betrayed you
So many times I have ignored you
So many times I have forgotten you
Lord, it is I

And then, he looked at me with love in his eyes… you have been forgiven and restored… feed my sheep, Padre, feed my sheep
This song by Mr Mister was a constant companion my last year of Seminary… it is even more profound today… Kyrie
Lord have mercy along the road that we must travel
