Evening Prayer – 9 April 2019

The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow
It was a wonderful day with dear friends
It was also a day of difficult news
Two beloved friends in Hospice Care
A friend and co-worker in ministry’s husband died
Even though I walk through the Valley of the Shadows
I know your presence, Lord
Mom would have been 86 today
I miss her so
Through all of this I thank you, Lord
For the sacred calling to walk with so many
Through the Valley of the Shadows
Let your light and your love shine, Lord
Guide us all through the difficult times
In your mercy, hear this humble prayer
Dona Nobis Pacem
Grant Us Peace
A wee prayer from the heart of your Padre…
Vespers
The sun slides down
the gap between houses
its amber reach crosses the grass
toward me, shadow of the elder tree
has grown long and I remember
under the mulberry spectacle of sky
how everything I love must end:
this cup of tea with steam ascending,
the dog curled right against me,
your warm hands over mine,
how this sweet leaving of day
makes me draw the world
as close as possible.
