A Prayer for the People of God of the Tree of Life Synagogue – Deborah Beach Giordano
A Prayer for the People of God of the Tree of Life Synagogue
I will give thanks to the One,
the Eternal,
with my whole heart;
I will tell of Your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad
and rejoice in You;
I will celebrate and praise
Your great Name
even now.
Especially now
when an enemy has struck
and the righteous —
Your people —
collapsed and fell,
while singing their praises
to You
their memories
a blessing
eternal.
I will celebrate and praise
Your great name,
for You hear
the cries of the afflicted,
You avenge
the deeds of the wicked;
Your Presence
is sure and steady,
Your people shall
grow ever stronger,
Your praise
shall not be silenced
even now.
Especially now
when I suffer
from those who hate me;
You, O Merciful,
are the One who lifts me up
from the gaze of death,
turning my eyes
to the gates of Zion
where we rejoice
in Your promised deliverance
even now.
The wicked have sunk
into the pit they have dug;
they are caught in the snare
of their own devising;
the Holy, the Eternal,
has been revealed:
the just Judge
and steadfast Protector
whom we faithfully praise
even now.
Especially now,
when we grieve
at the evils committed by mortal hands;
do not let our sorrows prevail,
as You remember us,
do not let us forget
Your great deeds
and great love;
and
trusting in You,
I will give thanks to the One,
the Eternal,
with my whole heart;
I will tell of Your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad
and rejoice in You;
I will celebrate and praise
Your great Name
even now,
Especially now.
Amen.
