Evening Prayer – 16 July 2018

The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow
What a day, Lord
I cannot even begin to fathom
When I swore an oath in 1985
I was a young Chaplain Candidate, Second Lieutenant
For 26 years I served
Retiring as a Chaplain, Lieutenant Colonel
I never contemplated how far we would fall
Protect and Defend the Constitution
Against all enemies, foreign and domestic
I fear for our nation
I fear for our world
How you must groan deep within, Lord
Greed
Corruption
Narcissism
Fear
Hatred
So much, Lord, so much
Out of the depths I cry to you
Lord, hear this humble prayer
Dona Nobis Pacem et in Terra
Grant Us Peace on Earth
A wee prayer from the heart of your Padre…
