Evening Prayer – 12 April 2018

The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow
Another day of rest, reflection, renewal
We spend a portion of today at an old cemetery
Reflecting upon life and death

This grave seems to say
Life can be messy, but grace is present
When all else fails, throw a party!
I think of my dear brother, Jeff
These words from his book
My spiritual house is in order
But I can’t get enough of the woods, the birds, and the creation
I talk to every monk at a couple of monasteries who is willing to listen
The monks talk about what matters
Maybe it is because they live close to the earth
We are all untidy pilgrims in this life
We are all untidy pilgrims on Grace Street
Yet in the midst of it all, we are reminded
We are God’s precious children
We are loved, forgiven, redeemed

As the sun sets I remember Jeff’s words
We are all pilgrims on Grace Street
Lord, thank you for your grace in the messiness of life
Lord, thank you for your love
Lord, in your mercy, hear this prayer for each of us
Dona Nobis Pacem
Grant Us Peace
A wee prayer from the heart of your Padre…
