Evening Prayer – 19 January 2018

The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow

A much needed day of rest and reflection

Even with a visit to the Dentist to replace a filling

Time spent in Rocky simply enjoying God’s creation

Yet with each Park Ranger I passed, I wondered

Remembering past Government shutdowns

How I walked with those who were furloughed

Wondering when pay would be restored

How they would make ends meet

All while Congress continues to get paid

Why can’t politicians remember whom they serve

Not big moneyed interests but ordinary Citizens

Lord, I pray for all who are worried and wondering

I pray for common sense and decency to return to Washington, DC

I pray for a world which is on a knife’s edge

Lord, I pray for all of your children

Dona Nobis Pacem et in Terra

Grant Us Peace on Earth
