Evening Prayer – 15 January 2018

The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow

A day of intense emotion and reflection

Holding those whom we love so deeply

Holding those who are mourning

Looking as well beyond our mountain community

Looking inward and contemplating

Remembering the legacy of Dr King

Seeing how far we have slid backwards

My heart aches, my soul is heavy

In those moments I hear the voice of the prophet

I hear the words of Howard Thurman

“In the stillness of the quiet, if we listen, we can hear the whisper of the heart giving strength to weakness, courage to fear, hope to despair.”

Lord, speak to your creation in words clear and true

Lord, in your mercy, hear this prayer

Dona Nobis Pacem

Grant Us Peace
