Evening Prayer – 15 August 2017

The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow 

As we approached this hallowed ground

The spiritual sense of loss was palpable

He had a dream, this servant of Christ

He prayed for a day when children of all races would play together 

He prayed for a day when hatred would be vanquished

His voice is needed today

We need to lift every voice and sing

To sing and to march towards the day

When hatred is transformed by love 

When fear is transformed by love

When violence is transformed by love

Dr King, we lift up our voices with yours

Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that

Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer

Dona Nobis Pacem et in Terra
