Evening Prayer – 31 May 2017

The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow 

As I watch the country I served for 26 years in uniform 

My heart aches

I swore to protect and defend

The Constitution of the United States of America

Against all enemies, foreign and domestic 

But I am also a citizen of this world

A world you created, Oh Lord

My heart breaks as I see so much hatred

I can’t imagine how your heart hurts, Lord

And so I lift my constant prayer to you

Dona Nobis Pacem et in Terra

Grant Us Peace on Earth 

A wee prayer from the heart of your Padre…
