Evening Prayer – 26 January 2017

The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow 

A day of study and final paper writing

The culmination of a course on Practicing Sabbath

Learning of the death of another former parishioner

Another Melodrama rehearsal complete tonight

In the midst of the challenges this world faces

Trying to discern God’s call

To be a comfort to those who mourn 

To be a voice for the oppressed

To encourage resistance to unfettered greed

To stand with Christ in the call of Matthew 25

Feed the hungry

Give refreshment to those who thirst 

Clothe the naked

Care for the prisoners

Welcome the stranger

Lord, how have we missed the obvious simplicity of your call

Lord, forgive us

Lord, renew us

Lord, challenge us

Lord, make us instruments of your reconciliation

Lord, make us instruments of your resistance

Lord, let us be instruments of your peace

Dona Nobis Pacem et in Terra 

Grant Us Peace on Earth
