Evening Prayer – 31 December 2016
The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow
As I look back on the year, Lord
Many moments of terror and hopelessness
Many moments of joy and happiness
As we ring in the New Year, terror attacks happen in Turkey
As we pray for peace, families mourn
Just as long ago Joseph, Mary, & Jesus became political refugees
Fleeing by night to save their lives
So also, many are seeking for a place of peace in the midst of the insanity
As we ring in the New Year with very dear friends
We pray for those who suffer and mourn
For this world which you created
We lift up our humble and heartfelt prayer
Grant Us YOUR Peace, O Lord
Let YOUR light shine in the darkness
Dona Nobis Pacem et in Terra
Grant Us Peace on Earth

To ask forgiveness on behalf of those who in their ignorance are oblivious of their wrongdoing, and those who in their arrogance are aware of their misdeeds, but rejoice in them and so would never think to seek forgiveness; to meet each day with hope, each situation with courage, and each person with discernment, honesty, and focused presence; to give thanks for all blessings of Heaven and Earth; and to align myself wholeheartedly with those, like yourself, who seek the ways of Love, Grace, Peace, and Justice, and are intent upon contributing to the healing, transformation, and redemption of the Earth and All of God’s Children…this is my path into 2017.
