Evening Prayer – 10 November 2016
The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow
A full day of Discernment and sharing
Wonderful fellowship around the table
Yet the majority of us in this class still wonder
We wonder and we comfort those who are scared
The hate that has been spewed in the name of christianity
Vileness so contrary to love
The love of the one who did not qualify which neighbor to love
They are tired of being told to get over it
Lord, you never said it would be easy
Never said it would be easy to love those who despise and hate us
You never said it would be easy
Never said it would be easy to pray for the persecutors
Yet you have said your strength is sufficient for us
Lord, help my sisters and brothers to embrace that strength in the midst of hate
Lord, may we take the higher road and love
May we love as you first loved us
May we do justice
May we love mercy
May we walk humbly with you
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer
Dona Nobis Pacem et in Terra
Grant Us Peace on Earth
The Earth you created
A wee prayer from the heart of your Padre…
Amen, Michael! What a beautiful, cruciform-shaped tree with such gnarled roots and craggy exterior. It speaks to me of being rooted in Christ, linked to Him with all our messiness, yet growing strong and vibrant because the sap of His life pulses through us. Bless you, friend. ❤
Love your reflection!! I saw gnarly faces. Your sight is a blessing to me!
I saw gnarly faces to start with, Michael, then my thoughts took over! 🙂
