Evening Prayer – 10 September 2016

The sun has set and the Vesper Lights flicker and glow 

A day of reflection and study

A day of remembrance

Also a day for mourning

Another childhood friend loses a parent

Also on this night we remember

Friends who were forever changed

Friends who lost loved ones

People who’s lives were forever changed

People all around the world

People from different cultures

People of different faith backgrounds

Lord, there is so much hatred today

Hatred that is often rooted

In the events of September 11, 2001

Lord, fifteen years later we remember

Fifteen years later we pray

Fifteen years later we seek healing

Tomorrow we will gather around your Table

We will break bread and share the cup

We will seek your healing and peace

For a world fractured and broken we pray

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer 

Dona Nobis Pacem

Grant Us Peace
