Evening Prayer – 14 June 2016

Night has fallen and the Vesper Lights flicker 

Even though the days move on

Hearts are still hurting

So many parts of this nation and world

Parts where hatred, bigotry, and fear prevail

Parts where YOUR children, O Lord, are condemned by people who claim to follow you

People who’s mantra is exclusion and hatred instead of inclusion and love

Once more, this Padre’s anguished prayer rises to you

For ALL of your children, Lord, hear my prayer

Dona Nobis Pacem

Grant Us Peace 
The peace of Isaiah 11:6-9 — The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze, their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play over the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put its hand on the adder’s den. They will not hurt or destroy on all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

The peace of Isaiah 2:4 — He shall judge between the nations, and shall arbitrate for many peoples; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing, so that we may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. — Romans 15:13
