Good Friday – 25 March 2016
Psalm 22:1 – My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, from the words of my groaning?
Tonight, O Lord, the Vesper Lights flicker
In the midst of all the activity
Even after an hour spent in worship
It is far too easy to forget you, Lord
Yet, you never forget us
Thank you, Lord, for your raw honesty
Thank you, Lord, for your cry of anguish
Despite the darkness of the day
You cried out to God
Even in the midst of darkness, you believed
Lord, as the Father of the demon possessed boy said
I believe, help my unbelief
On this night we stare in horror upon your broken body
On this night we recognize our complicity
We fall before the cross, O Lord
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer
Dona Nobis Pacem
Grant Us Peace
A wee prayer from the reflective heart of your Padre on this Holy Night…
Agnus Dei, Agnus Dei
Qui tollis peccata mundi
dona eis requiem,
dona eis requiem
