Evening Prayer – 24 March 2016

  
Psalm 116:12-14 – What shall I return to the LORD for all his bounty to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD, I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.

On this day as the Vesper Lights flicker, O Lord

We remember how you washed the feet of your disciples 

We remember how you broke the bread

We remember how you offered the cup

We remember how you said:

Do this in remembrance of me

Tonight, O Lord, the journey takes a hard turn

Betrayed by one you loved

They fell asleep as you prayed

One betrayed you with a kiss

Your friends ran away and abandoned you

Lord, on his night, we must see ourselves in their actions

For we do abandon and betray you

Yet, you still love us and call us to you

You call us to your table

You give us the bread and the cup

Give us the courage, gracious Savior

To lift up the cup of salvation as we call to you

To pay our vows to you in the presence of all

Lord, help us to faithfully serve you, to follow you

Lord, hear us as we pray

Dona Nobis Pacem 

Grant Us Peace
