Psalm 139 uses this beautiful language. I just love the imagery of being lovingly stitched and woven together as I grew from a union of my parents into the person I am. Once year during Advent, years ago, we had a video of an ultrasound looping on the screen before worship began. It was supposed to be a reminder that we were anticipating the birth of Christ, which it was, but for me it was also a reminder of Christ’s humanity. Over the gestations period, even God incarnate began as a fertilized egg and slowly formed a head, a body, limbs, a heart, lungs, eyes, ears… What a miracle!
When I consider the whole process it is absolutely amazing to me how we develop. Our bodies are extremely complicated. Each drop of blood contains 250 million cells, a healthy liver processes 720 liters…
