Evening Prayer – 16 February 2016
The sun has set and the Vesper Lights are lit
As the wind blows outside I ponder many things
Remembering my own time in far off places
Places where there is constant danger
Places where the government had sent me
Places where so many have lost their lives
While it has been five years since I hung up the uniform
My heart turns to those who are still serving
There is so much violence in this world
Lord, now, more than ever it seems
We are in need of your grace
We are in need of your mercy
We are in need of your justice for ALL people
Tonight as I think of those in places of violence and war
As I think of those in places of poverty and oppression
While I give thanks for the life I have
I come into your presence with my heartfelt prayer
Dona Nobis Pacem
Grant Us Peace
Grant your peace to ALL your children
Help us to beat swords into plowshares
Help us to turn spears into pruning hooks
Help your children to study peace and not war anymore
Again my heart cries out to you
Dona Nobis Pacem
Grant Us Peace
A wee prayer for peace from the heart of your Padre… A heart that is full… A heart that is weary of mindless warmongering rhetoric… A heart that yearns for peace…
