The Bible and Metaphors-the Word was God

It’s the first day of Lent and I am already in over my head! (metaphor intentional)  Every year during Lent I choose a topic and do a daily blog on the topic.  Last year I wrote about women in the Bible.  Another year I studied “water verses” in the Bible, or verses that were centered around water. It’s not really so that anyone else can read it, but more so that I am committed to spending time in scripture every day during Lent.  Blogging holds me accountable.  If I know there are people reading my posts, then I am more dedicated to finishing the race (another metaphor-haha).  It’s sad that I depend on that kind of accountability but as I was reminded by my wonderful husband Michael  tonight as he led our Ash Wednesday service, I am not perfect…I am going to mess…
