Evening Prayer – 27 January 2016
So yes, it is past midnight in Decatur… But it is just past 10 pm in Colorado so it is still time for Evening Prayer on Thursday!
The Vesper Lights are flickering
A long day of travel is done
Thankful for reminders of what we are called to be
Called to serve ALL God’s children
No place for discrimination
No place for bigotry
No place for hatred
Lord, help us to see others as you do
Help us to see ALL as they were created
In the image of God we were created
Help us to turn aside from bigotry and fear
Help us to turn away from racism and hatred
Help us to turn away from sexism of all kinds
Help us to simply be
Your agents of grace, mercy, love, justice, and peace
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer
Dona Nobis Pacem
Grant Us Peace
A wee prayer from the heart of your Padre after a long day of travel… After an emotional and meaning-filled tour of the Carter Center… After an excellent beginning to the seminary class… After an evening of discussion and fellowship… May our sleep be deep and may we arise refreshed!
