Evening Prayer – 21 January 2016
Last night your Padre was out of commission thanks to a bad sinusitis attack… Thankfully, today was a different day! I didn’t get out early enough to take a picture of the beautiful moon in all its detail with my camera… But it was beautiful!
Tonight, O Lord, the Vesper Lights are lit
The sun has set and the moon has risen
In the silvery glow of the moon we lift our prayer
A prayer for a world in need of hope
A prayer for a world in need of healing
A prayer for a world in need of mercy
A prayer for a world in need of courage
A prayer for a world that needs to stand up
To stand up against violence
To stand up against bigotry
To stand up against racism
To stand up against sexism
To stand up against greed
To stand up against hatred
Help us, Lord, to stand up for peace
Help us, Lord, to stand up for mercy
Help us, Lord, to walk humbly with you
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer
Dona Nobis Pacem
Grant Us Peace
A wee prayer from the heart of your Padre as he reflects on Micah 6:8 and Jesus’ command to love even our enemies… All this in a world that is fixated on the myth of redemptive violence and ignorance masked as superiority…
