As the sun slowly faded from view

The beautiful colors of the sky gave hope

As the Vesper lights were lit

The flames pierced the darkness

We are reminded even in times of darkness

That your love, Lord, never abandons

That your light, Lord, always shines

Despite the rhetoric of fear and lies politicians weave

Help us, Lord, to focus on your light

Help us, Lord, to be instruments

Instruments of your grace

Instruments of your mercy

Instruments of your love

Instruments of your peace

My prayer for this nation

My prayer for this world

Grant Us Peace
