Evening Prayer – 16 July 2015

Lord, your light shines in the darkness
Lord, the darkness cannot overcome it

Today was a day of joy for many
Today was a day of sorrow and pain

In the news today from Chattanooga
Four Marines killed and others wounded
In places like Sudan, Syria, Nigeria, and Iraq
Violence continues unabated
Around the world and in our own neighborhoods
Hunger, Domestic Violence, Abuse continue

As this lighthouse once guided mariners
On their journeys around the gulf
May your light shine in the darkness
A constant reminder that you never forsake us

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers
For ourselves
For our neighbors
For strangers who are still our family as your children
For our enemies and those who persecute

Lord, in your mercy, let your light shine
Lord, in your mercy, pierce the darkness

Grant Us Peace
