Evening Prayer 19 June 2015

   
 Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer

Our prayer for those who mourn
Our prayer for those who turn a senseless and horrible event into a political soapbox
Forgive those who stupidly say if they had guns in that church nobody would have died
Guide the family of the shooter
A family fraught with grief and guilt and pain

Touch the young man whose hate has forever changed his life and the lives of his victims
Change the heart of the one who will forever carry the guilt over nine lives taken in cold blood
Yet in the midst of the horror
Families of victims offering forgiveness
Lord, may we learn from them
Violence only begets more violence
A house built on sand will fall
A house and faith built on solid rock will stand

A prayer rising out of my troubled heart…
